Be An Intrepid Marketer – Recommendation No. 18
I had the pleasure of spending five hours with Krista Harris Friday at a local coffee shop. Hanging out, we talked business and made a wee small bit of progress getting her new blog up and running. Still much work to be done there.
During our conversation, she shared a profound point that I wanted to share with you.
But first, you need to know Krista is a massage therapist. A nutritionist (not licensed, but knows enough to be an asset). A national yoga competitor. In all, a wellness expert. She is gonna be huge in building a community interested in wellness. Keep an eye out for her!
But why? Because she has an intrepid way about her. And she likes being the first. She told me so. In our five hours of hanging out, this was the moment I knew she was going to succeed big with this next step in her business.
She was the first licensed Ashiatsu massage therapist in Georgia. And now, she intends to be the first to bring a new type of yoga to the Metro Atlanta mainstream. Trust me, I heard all about it Friday. It is going to be cool. Something even an un-yoga guy like me sees value in. Keep an eye out for the deets!
This kind of attitude inspires me. It makes me realize we are going to get through these tough economic times. Makes me realize that people should be – can be – need to be – intrepid.
There’s nothing new about what Krista stands for. Marketing experts are always telling us to carve out a unique niche, to be remarkable, to fill a need in that is missing in your marketplace. The difference is Krista is actually doing it.
In addition, she is exploring ways to better tell her story – to better communicate what she knows – and better build a community that she can interact with and serve. And I think she will succeed.
How are you looking to be first in your market? In what way? And how fast? Remember, you probably aren’t the only one with that unique idea. Better get moving!
